Vitamin G

G for Green, Gardening, Growing & Goodness! Now that the coldest and wettest weather is (hopefully) behind us, there’s a plethora of things that the green fingered amongst us can delve into.

Home Grown Herbaceous Perennials

As always we’ve been busy in the growing tunnels tending to thousands of herbaceous perennials (plants that mostly disappear above ground level annually at the end of their growing season and re-emerge with vigour each spring).

With the prolonged wet and grey winter (and therefore lower light levels than some years), growth has been somewhat S-L-O-W-E-R than desired!

We only bring our plants up for sale once they've developed a good root system and are ready for planting out.

In our extended perennial area, varieties of  Achillea, Aquilegia, Digitalis, Erysimum, Euphorbia, Geranium, Geum, Iris, Lupin & Papaver are available now with many many more to follow shortly.

The first of our home grown sweet peas are also available now.

Edibles

With almost 100 varieties of vegetables & herbs on our 2024 sowing list, many are putting on strong growth.

All of our edible plants are grown in peat-free compost with slow release fertilisers so that they will continue to thrive at home.

Last year, many of you asked for peas, so listening to you as always, we’re growing 4 different pea varieties.

For those of you that enjoy choosing something a little different or varieties unavailable in the supermarkets we have approximately 16 varieties of tomatoes, 12 different types of leaves & lettuces, 9 bean varieties, 10 chilli & pepper types, 12 types of brassica, cucumbers, courgettes, squash, aubergines.….well, you get the picture!
