Roses

All of our Roses are grown from rootstocks produced in England to ensure strong, high quality plants that will create beautiful shapes and flower straight away in their first summer.

The rootstocks arrive to us in November (depending on the weather as this affects when they can be lifted) and we pot them straight away into our own compost mix with a slow-release feed to prevent their roots from drying out or getting frosted. We then grow them outside through the winter, so they are ready to go out for sale in the new year. We grow in larger than average pots to give the plants more room for strong root growth and to prevent them from drying out too regularly in summer which can cause issues such as Blackspot.

We are very select on the varieties we grow due to limited space - but we always try and make sure they have a good scent, good disease resistance and come in a variety of colours. There are climbers, ramblers, ground cover, Hybrid Teas and patio varieties - something for every area of the garden!

As we get towards the end of the summer our stocks will be at their lowest, so the best time to shop for a Rose is between January and June - after that we can’t guarantee availability of varieties.
